1. Procedures and documentation regulations

1.1 For foreign nationals

Foreign nationals must have a passport or other legally valid documents. If there is no passport, foreign nationals must have a diplomatic note or consular letter confirming their identity, with an attached photo and official seal, along with an explanation of the lost passport confirmed by the local police.

1.2 For Vietnamese nationals

Passengers over 14 years old

Passengers over 14 years old must have one of the following documents:

  • Passport
  • Citizen identification card or national ID card
  • Member of National Assembly, Party member, or Journalist ID card
  • Motorbike or car driving license
  • Certificates for special categories such as disability, war invalids, etc., recognized by competent authorities.

These documents must be valid and have a photo with an official seal.

Children

  • Under 6 years old: Must be accompanied by an adult and have an original or copy of the birth certificate or passport. If no age verification document is available, the child must be under 112 cm in height.
  • Aged 6-10 years: Must have an original or copy of the birth certificate or passport. If no age verification document is available, the child must be under 132 cm in height.

Students

Must have a national ID card, citizen identification card, or any legally recognized photo ID. Additionally, student cards issued by high schools, colleges, universities, and academies that are still valid can be used.

Senior Citizens

Must have a national ID card, citizen identification card, or any legally recognized photo ID.

2. Passenger and luggage transport regulations

Article 1: Passengers must have a valid ticket, travel on the correct train, and sit in the assigned seat indicated on the ticket. Each passenger is allowed 20kg of free carry-on luggage. If the luggage exceeds the allowed weight, passengers must purchase additional freight according to regulations. Carry-on luggage must be properly managed and placed in designated areas on the train. Passengers must take care of their belongings to avoid any mishaps.

Article 2: Children must be accompanied by an adult. Children under 6 years old (if no age verification document is available, height must be under 112 cm) travel for free but cannot occupy a seat. Children aged 6-10 years receive a 50% discount on tickets (if no age verification document is available, height must be under 132 cm). Note that each passenger cannot accompany more than two free-ticket children.

Article 3: Passengers found without a ticket or with an invalid ticket must purchase a ticket according to the regulations of the national railway system.

  • Passengers who are drunk, have contagious diseases, or have been diagnosed with memory loss and should not travel unless accompanied by a guardian to avoid affecting others.
  • Due to unavoidable reasons, the railway system cannot organize train movement.

3. Security and order regulations on the train
